REEBOK INSTA PUMP FURY 20TH ANNIVERSARY – 15.3.14
When we first heard about the plans for the REEBOK INSTA PUMP FURY 20TH ANNIVERSARY series, we had to check our ears: 27 collaborations? That’s a lot of potential for some great colourways and clever reworkings of one of the most-loved models in footwear history.
The original REEBOK INSTA PUMP FURY was a genuine game changer when it dropped in 1994. Aside from the unique laceless uppers and hoof-like sole unit, the Insta Pump technology took shoe comfort to the next level: if you’re in need of a refresher, we’ve recently checked out the original model over here. Reebok didn’t leave things there and over the years, we’ve seen some incredible colourways and co-labs from many of the best heads in the business. We hoped they’d be bringing something special to the table for this major milestone – and, looking at these next five releases, we’re not going to be disappointed.
First up, are our friends over at End Clothing, who have set the levels extremely high with their claret-themed release, the REEBOK X END INSTA PUMP FURY ‘CLARET’, which Nic has taken a closer look at over here. Next up, we’ve got the Packer Shoes edition, the REEBOK X PACKER SHOES X STASH INSTA PUMP FURY, which brings in the skills of NYC’s very own graffiti legend to add his own paint splatters to his favoured blue-and-grey colour palette. Spain’s infamous 24 Kilates hit the monotone palette with gusto, offering up a slick black and white blocked upper on the 24 KILATES X 11 BY BORIS BIDJAN SABERI X REEBOK INSTA PUMP FURY, thanks to the involvement of luxury designer Boris Bidjan Saberi’s 11 label.
The LIMITED EDT. X HYPETHETIC X REEBOK INSTA PUMP FURY comes straight outta Singapore, with a design inspired by the construction of the Limited Edt. store, and an added dash of Hypethetic’s black-n-blue signature colours on top – and to round off this batch, there’s the amazing SNEAKER POLITIC X REEBOK INSTA PUMP FURY from the guys in Louisiana, bringing a smart – and furry – response to the table. Green, black and red always works as a combo, and this is no exception.
There’s plenty more to come throughout the rest of the anniversary year, but these five co-labs should see you straight until the next models in the series drop in April, May and June.
