The REEBOK x CROOKED TONGUES INSTAPUMP FURY takes one of our favourite technical shoes ever and carefully rolls it around in the paint palette, resulting in one of the best shoes we’ve seen this summer. This madcap creation won’t be for everyone, but it won’t be forgotten either.
The guys at Crooked Tongues couldn’t be a better choice for a collaborator on this shoe: their appreciation of the Reebok Instapump Fury goes back to their founding days. At that time, the Fury was running on the fumes of its late-’90s run of popularity in the UK (the Jackie Chan colourway was extremely sought-after when it dropped in the UK in 1997) and we saw the waves of appreciation find their way back to Asia, where a number of great colourways followed.
In recent years, the waves have come back to UK shores and we’ve seen some extremely solid colourways and collaborations. Crooked’s take on the shoe takes inspiration from Brazil’s hosting of the World Cup this year, but looks a bit deeper than most similar themes. The colours come from a combination of Brazilian birdlife, World Cup festivities and the custom jerseys of Mexico’s legendary goalkeeper, Jorge Campos. It’s beautiful chaos and we’re big fans.
These opinion-dividers are up there with the best of the Pump Fury co-labs and, in keeping with the avian theme, we expect them to fly out. The REEBOK x CROOKED TONGUES INSTAPUMP FURY drops this SATURDAY 5.7.14 with CROOKED TONGUES via the link-through below.
