The Air Force 1 Turns Mythological in Riccardo Tisci’s NikeLab x RT Victorious Minotaurs Collection

The NIKELAB x RT VICTORIOUS MINOTAURS collection draws from the past, combining different generations of sportswear icons in one distinctly unique pack of apparel and footwear.

Riccardo Tisci’s collaborations with Nike have become highly sought-after, bringing a touch of high-class fashion design to sportswear with memorable results. His love of basketball and an unparalleled eye for style positions him to be the perfect designer to remix the most iconic basketball shoe ever – the Nike Air Force 1. This latest collection consists of two colourways of the Air Force 1 High that feature his trademark icons: large star embroidery, matched with sporty detailing, shown this time in the ankle strap. The custom logo, inspired by the iconic NBA logo, features prominently on the toe box and represents a fictional basketball team called the Victorious Minotaurs. The custom logos and emblems for this imaginary squad are a reflection of today’s superhuman basketball stars. “In the ’90s, basketball players became kind of like rock stars,” Tisci says. “But now, they are more than rock stars. They’re superhuman — representative of historical mythology.”

The footwear is joined by a concise selection of apparel. This includes an Oxford shirt, track pant and varsity jacket, to form a collection of four distinct pieces for men, three for women and a series of accessories.
