[ THE DROP DATE ]
We’ve got personal ties with our friends at Sneaker Freaker over in Melbourne, but that isn’t going to stop us wishing Woody and the crew a massive congratulations for ten years in the game.
Making a magazine takes an incredible amount of effort – maintaining the enthusiasm and motivation to keep to printing schedules, deal with contributors and advertisers and then market the finished production is nothing short of incredible. At a time when journalism has become a free-for-all through self-publishing, blogging and paid-for content, Sneaker Freaker keeps on coming correct.
3000 copies of Issue 1 dropped at the end of 2002 and marked the release of the first real sneaker magazine by a long way. The magazine is now 25 issues deep, and with scratch-n-sniff covers, multiple shoe collaborations and a thriving website under its belt, we’re looking forwards to what’s coming up next.
And on that very subject, the forthcoming Sneaker Freaker book due in 2013 is going to be amazing: start clearing some space now, as we’ve heard it’s going to be a big one.
Well done Woody – keep ’em coming, homeboy! Keep up with all things Sneaker Freaker over here: www.sneakerfreaker.com.
