Available Now: the Stash x Nike Air Zoom Spiridon

The STASH x NIKE AIR ZOOM SPIRIDON finds Nike and the legendary graffiti writer patching up their past differences and reuniting with this killer edition of the Nike Spiridon.

Stash might be well-known for his graphic design and his many collaborations with numerous brands, but everything stems from his graffiti background. As one of the pioneering New York graffiti writers in the mid-’80s, his lettering skills and use of colour made people stop and take notice. His progress into graphic design came naturally and he formed a partnership with the legendary Futura (2000) which saw the duo sharing a studio and working on many projects together over the following twenty years. It came as no surprise when Nike knocked at the door of their Williamsburg studio and Stash collaborated on a number of outstanding footwear releases, such as the Air Max 95, Air Force 1 and Air Classic BW. A subsequent falling out after the collapse of his NORT sneaker store project resulted in a very outspoken interview (published in Sneaker Freaker) and an end to the partnership with the brand.

With all that in mind, to say that this Nike Spiridon is an unexpected surprise is an understatement. Featuring a number of classic Stash design elements, such as the embroidered arrow on the toe, Stash’s tag and Subware-style ‘S’ on the heel tab and his iconic spray can cap pattern on the insole, this might be the most exciting edition of the Spiridon we’ve seen since the unreleased Opium samples.
