After getting a sneak preview of the Studio ALCH AW19 Collection back in January, Alexandra “mini swoosh” Hackett keeps our desires for functional sports spiked garms ticking over with this immersive SS19 drop. As expected, the items challenge conventional apparel designs, working practical elements into the pieces in unorthodox ways. Stand out items include the Velcro Panelled Short and Velcro Panelled Asymmetrical Gilet, both with removable pockets, inspired by a Japanese practice (or prank?) called Chindōgu, which refers to the creation of wares that aren’t exactly useful, but somehow not altogether useless. Examples from the Kenji Kawakami fronted school of thought include noodle coolers and…wait for it…the selfie stick.
