SUPRA x HANON OWEN ‘WHISKY GOLD’ & OWEN MID ‘ANGEL’S SHARE’
Skate brand SUPRA have teamed up with Scottish heavyweights HANON for a collaborative project with an alcoholic theme.
Taking inspiration from Scotland’s most famous export, Hanon have added the colours and textures associated with the distillation of single malt whisky and applied them to Supra’s lifestyle silhouette: the Owen. Much like the creation of good whisky however, there is more than one stage to this team-up. As well as the low-cut, golden-coloured, suede-built makeup that resembles the finished product, Hanon will also release a ‘Black Label’ Owen Mid that references the ‘Angel’s Share’ phenomenon – the 2% of whisky that evaporates during the distilling process. Fittingly, this shoe is numbered to 50 pieces so as to be as ephemeral as that 2%.
Both makeups are executed with the same expert craftsmanship as you would expect from a good single malt: two different types of suede and perforations on the tongue and vamp give them a beautiful depth of texture. Gold leaf logos of each collaborator are debossed into the suede tongue patches and heel panels, blue tartan patterning covers the entire inner and dual branding gets futher play on the footbeds and lace aglets. As if you needed more finishing touches, the shoes come packaged in a custom built velvet dust bag with 3 sets of laces and hangtags.
