New Balance continues to defy conventions with their latest footwear endeavour, the New Balance 8040. 

As the footwear industry continues to grow increasingly saturated with emerging trends and silhouettes, it often takes something significantly different to capture our attention as consumers. Recognised and applauded for continually having their finger on the pulse, it’s pretty clear that New Balance have cracked the code of staying true to their heritage whilst providing progressive products. If you don’t believe us, just take a look at the recently debuted 1906R Loafer. And if you’re still not convinced, feast your eyes on exhibit B – their latest venture – the 8040 model. 

Now, we know what you might be thinking, but bare with us. Built on a base taken from 2022’s New Balance 9060, this innovative new offering utilises an entirely fresh upper. Debuting across three monochromatic palettes, continue reading for the lowdown on this unconventional shoe!

A Closer Look at the New Balance 8040…

Adopting colourways of ‘Tan’, ‘Brown’ and ‘Navy’, these earthy hues are ideal for leisurely moments. Drawing inspiration from the classic moccasin loafer, the exterior flaunts a premium pigskin suede construction. Nubuck hits enter at the toe for an added textural edge, whilst the classic NB logo adopts an embroidered finish. If you’re wondering where the laces are at – you’ll find they skipped out on this one. Instead, a velcro strap adorns the upper for a convenient slip-on vibe. Rounded off with a chunky Abzorb tech midsole and SBS cushioning outer, these kicks will give your feet support all day long.
