The Dassler brothers, Adolf "Adi" and Rudolf open the Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik, a small shoe manufacturing operation in Bavaria, Germany. The adidas brand was established in 1948 by Adi following a disagreement with Rudolf, who established PUMA.
