A first look at the COMME DES GARÇONS X CONVERSE CHUCK TAYLOR ALL STAR

The COMMES DES GARCONS X CONVERSE CHUCK TAYLOR ALL STAR is a bold new take on the classic silhouette, and it’s coming soon.

Everyone knows the classic CDG Play Chucks with their signature heart print, but this new collab from the more avant-garde side of Rei Kawakubo’s design empire is a very different beast. Coming in either black or white – fashion’s favourite non-colours – the new collab shoe features a canvas upper embellished with tonal rubber CDG branding on the outer side of each shoe to complement the classic Converse star. The black pair takes a more toned down approach, lightened by the white stitching and laces. Meanwhile the white pair goes high contrast with a black outsole and toe cap that stand out starkly against the upper. We’re used to seeing Chucks with a coloured upper and white sole, but Comme des Garçons flip the script and turn the combo upside down to create something classic yet unfamiliar.
