Paul and Jim Van Doren launched The Van Doren Rubber Company out of Anaheim just over fifty years ago, building up respect and admiration over the years as they forged their way into the footwear market with something unique. By the time the 1970s came around, the term ‘House of Vans’ was a household name among surfers and skaters, who loved the Vans shoes known for their sticky waffle soles and classic footwear designs. As an authentic Californian brand, Vans has become ingrained with the skate and surf lifestyles which continue to shape and inspire the brand’s designs and creations to this very day.

Buying off-the-shelf might not be exactly in line with the ‘Off the Wall’ tagline, but creating your own designs on the Vans website certainly is! Vans Customs have been a tradition since 1966, when Paul Van Doren made shoes with any fabric people brought by the shop.
